Gothic.

I always find the most interesting videos when I’m doing my usual makeup-tutorial-stalking on Youtube. Today I was watching some videos from one of my fav channels, pixiwoo [two sisters who are incredible, very experienced, makeup artists]. I think they’re so gorgeous. Well, the first video I watched today was the Raquel Welch video by Nicola. Then I watched Samantha’s video on Modern Goth Makeup. I loved that video. Not only was the look very sick [in a great way], but it also lead me to other video.

Sam’s modern goth makeup video was a tribute to the Sophie Lancaster Foundation. I don’t follow the news or watch television that much to hear about it [plus it happened in the UK in 2007].
Sophie Lancaster and her boyfriend were beaten up by a group of drunk teenagers for their gothic appearances. Sophie sacrificed her life to save her boyfriend by protecting him. She died in the hospital. Her boyfriend lived. If you haven’t watched it, click this or just watch it here. Very very sad.

Watch the video on youtube for the words at the end and side text.

A British makeup brand commissioned the short film: Illamasqua

It’s painful to me when I see teens/kids leave someone out of the fun just because of the way they looked or because they weren’t in the “in crowd”. It’s like they’re punishing them for no good reason. They weren’t pretty enough. They weren’t skinny enough. They don’t have [stuff to represent money] enough. So stupid. Sure we’ve all been there. I’ve made fun of someone, but usually it’s within my group of friends as a joke. It’s fine to joke around. But to do it to gain status, to be “cool” or just to be mean is wrong. People still do it, even in adulthood. For all you people that think looks, popularity, and money matters….IT DOESN’T. In the end, all that stuff doesn’t matter. [I think I'm starting to blab. I'm a terrible writer.]

This video is heartbreaking; it had me in tears. Some people never reach the maturity level to understand what respect means. And because of it, someone lost their daughter…their girlfriend…their friend. What those teens did to Sophie was beyond cruel. It was pure evil.
*sigh…shakes head.
Prayers to the family & friends.
__________

Like Samantha, a lot of people on Youtube did tribute videos for the cause by doing makeup tutorials on Gothic Makeup. I’m too lazy to do a video so I just took pictures. :] There’s a part of me that is “goth”. I just keep it locked up inside.

Somewhat gothic, right? :] I would never wear this in public, or do I think its that pretty on me [maybe on someone else] but it was fun to do.

Now this is more me. I’m just throwing these pics in here because it’s another look I did today. ^^

Makeover.

As you can see, I gave my blog a makeover. It really needed it. I finally put my own design up. I jacked the code from another WordPress theme, but replaced all the graphics with my own. ^^ I still have some tweaking to do. I’m need to step away from the editor before I mess things up. Lol.
If you know me well enough or looked through my pictures, I have a tattoo on my right shoulder blade. I got it about 6 months ago? In Venice, Cali at Ink Monkey. I love tokidoki styles, so I decided to draw something up. I gave the tattoo artist my drawing and told him to do whatever he wanted with it. The tattoo turned out great…I love it. But the design wasn’t exactly what I wanted. So I decided to vector it and put it on here. :]

Man, I hate adjusting colors from Photoshop to the web. What a bitch!

I love cherry blossoms and skulls. I wish the tattoo artist made my skulls more edgier/beat-up. Like my design. I wanted two skulls, too. Eventually I’ll add more to this tat.

Well, I am really really tired. I only had two hours of sleep. Went to bed last night at like 6am [photoshoppin and  God of War], woke up at 8am, went to school, and I’m still up. Exhausted! I should have went to bed 4 hours ago, but I really wanted to finish most of this layout. Determination!

School was fun today. I don’t feel like typing out all details. Gave my model a makeover by adding some highlights in her hair.

My Macbook is stabbing me. The bottom right corner edge, where my wrist rest, is chipping. :/

Very cute pic right hurr:

Cooper likes being in the butt crack of the couch. If he had cheeks, I would be squeezing them right now.

I think I want to snap this piece off my Mac. Driving me nuts.

We rented the God of War collection from Blockbuster. I wanted to play both of them before the third GoW comes out in March ’10. I hate the game so much that I love it. The BF and I play it together. It can be such a frustrating game! Oh…only thing that really sucks about GoW1 is the camera angles. Errr. Haven’t got to GoW2 yet. Are the camera angles the same in that one?

Okay….

I need to sleep!!!!

AbstractNails

This has got to be my most favorite and EASIEST look I’ve done. I wore a purple version of this look on Monday [refer back to "FirstDay" post]. Seriously, I love love LOVE this look. From far away it looks like a bad paint job, but when you look closely, it’s beauty. It’s like a painting on a canvas. ^-^ So here’s a tutorial on Abstract Nails.
Inspiration: paintings I’ve seen before. Reminder of that inspiration: a skirt I got from Urban Outfitters. I love this skirt. I don’t have a picture of it right now, but it’s one of those ones you sit high on your waist. The skirt is made by Kimchi Blue, one of my favorite brands sold at UO.

One coat base coat. Two thin coats of color.

161220092616
Add a stroke of two or three different colors randomly. Express yourself. It’s art!
Lol. Or just copy what I did here. =P

I layered a few shimmery polishes. [I always put shimmer/glitter on my designs]
Now, choose a color that’s matte and totally opposite in shade than your base. Here I chose a bright pinkish, red for my base. So for this step, I chose a matte navy blue so it really stands out. If your base color is really dark, almost black, then I would use a matte & opaque color for this step…like white or pastels.
When you pull your brush out of your bottle, make sure you wiped off pretty much all the polish off. Then paint your nails with dry strokes. You want those “stroke” lines to show. Then you can go back and grab more polish to add a few wet strokes.

Finish with topcoat. ^-^

FloweredNails.

I don’t particularly like this flower plant, but it’s great for nails! And why is it a holiday flower? I don’t know. I didn’t make the design completely red, cause that would be boring. So here’s my version.
Inspiration: Poinsettias

021220092381
One coat base coat. Two coats silver. One thin coat of gold on the ends [halfway up].

021220092383
With a magenta striping paint, draw petals and fill in on the corner of your nails.

031220092386
With a red striping paint, draw bigger petals.

031220092387
Fill the petals in, but don’t cover the magenta petals you made earlier. You don’t have to be perfect when filling it in.

031220092389
With a teal striping paint, draw a few strokes for leaves.

031220092390
With a green, draw a few more overlapping strokes for leaves.

031220092391
With a black striping paint, thinly outline the flower.

031220092392
Add green dots in the corner for the flower.

031220092395
Add yellow dots over the green and glitter the tips of the flower to jazz it up.

031220092396
Follow up with a top coat.

Bjork.

Her voice gives me the chills. I love her music. I may not understand most of it or did I try understanding it, but her voice just draws me in. I love to sing and when I hear singers really sing, I’m moved. She has one of my favorite voices. Plus, she’s a little on the weird side, which makes me love her so much more.

I would really love to take voice lessons. I listened to a song I sang for my dj friend, Priyonjoni, and I was a little disgusted with my voice. We recorded it like 5-6 years ago. I have to say I have a lot more control over my voice now. :] Listening to songs like this makes me want to improve so much more. I never belonged to a serious choir [just junior high and elementary]. I would love to learn proper terms, notes, breathing exercises, how to increase my octave range, etc.
Anyway…enough of me blabbing. Have a listen of Bjork [old songs].
